What Story Are You Telling Yourself?
You may not be consciously aware of the story you're telling yourself, but you certainly need to be, if you want to control your anger.
If you're listening to or reading other people's scary or infuriating stories, you're throwing fuel on the fire of your anger, and you're going to replay those stories in your own mind, making them your stories.
- We are almost constantly bombarded with stories that are upsetting, and we think we're "staying informed."
- In fact, if you consume and believe this information, you're falling victim to the profit-driven media which is trying to increase revenue by reporting the most sensational and upsetting stories. They are not bad or to blame, they're just trying to grow their businesses.
- Start telling yourself new stories, built on your gratitude, appreciation, and optimism, and you'll find your anger and frustration subsiding.
- You will literally change your biochemstry and brain function when you make this shift.
The stories you consume daily have the power to dominate your thoughts, emotions, and health, if you let them. Claim authority over your mind and your stories, and begin choosing and retelling the stories that lift your spirits, slow your heart rate, and restore your faith in yourself and humanity.
Think of it this way...
When you become the suthor of your own story, you're claiming authority over your heart and mind.
