What Is A Non-Anger Mindset?

A non-anger mindset shuts down the anger response by activating an incompatible mental process.

You can't be angry and grateful at the same time. You can't be angry and emotionally intelligent at the same time.

So how do you get a non-anger mindset?

  • Primary brain functions focus on threat, and strategize about protection. This is the fight-or-flight reflex we've all heard of.

  • As long as this part of the brain is activated, there really is no room for compassion or wisdom. The "voices" of fear and anger are so loud that they drown out the deeper and quieter voices of maturity and emotional intelligence.

  • When you shift your powerful mental focus from what is bad, wrong, and broken to what is good, right, and working as described in the book Goodfinding, you are activating your brilliant secondary mind, and shifting into a non-anger mindset. You may still have some healthy anger, but it will transform into healthy, effective action.

Think of it this way...

If I allow my mind to focus on the things that frustrate me, I will stay frustrated, and eventually become angry. When I shift my mind to gratitude, appreciation, and optimism, my emotions will shift and I'll start to think more clearly.

William DeFoore

When you open and expand your mind to focus on all that is good, right, and working in yourself and your life, you will activate a peaceful, loving, and joy-filled mindset.
