What Am I?

by Kirsty
(Ripley )

I get angry with silly little things too fast. For example this lad was winding me up at school so I just picked up a chair and threw it at him. I then threw an eraser at him and several pens.

The thing is, I was not playing around and he was.

I have suffered from rejection and depression in my life. I'm a 15 year old girl, and I just want to be able to calm my temper.

Response from Dr. DeFoore

Hello Kirsty, and thanks for telling your story here. There is good reason for your anger, and you will feel better when you understand where it is coming from.

Your anger is there because you've been hurt in the past. Use the writing exercise described on this page to explore those memories, and that will give you some relief.

Also, do the anger journaling process on this page, to give your anger a safe, healthy place to go on a daily basis. This will help you to calm your temper.

You're a good person, Kirsty, and that's why you don't like the anger. Focus on that goodness inside you. Use the positive journaling described on this page to help you expand your awareness of the good inside and all around you.

These are tools that will really help you if you use them. The more you use them, the more benefit you will receive.

You might also try these anger management techniques as a way of calming your temper on a daily basis.

Believe in yourself, and keep using these tools until you get what you're looking for.

My very best to you,

Dr. DeFoore
