I sometimes just lash out in anger and I want to hurt others any way I possibly can. It frightens me for it seems to be getting worse. I'm afraid one day I won't be able to control my angry outburst. What can I do to get rid of these anger issues?
Response from Dr. DeFoore
Thank you for reaching out for help on this site. You're asking for help because you're a good person, and you don't really want to hurt anyone. The angry part of you does want to hurt people at times, and I understand that. That is the nature of anger. The important thing is that you're reaching out for help on this site instead of giving in to your impulses to lash out.
These anger problems frighten you because your anger and aggression don't match up with who you really are. You want to be good and to treat others well, just like you want them to treat you.
Do not expect this to be quick or easy. If you really want to heal your anger issues, you will follow my recommendations and stick with it until you are feeling much, much better. Do not give up on yourself, and you will get there!
This is what I recommend:
1) Read and practice these
anger management techniques until you can do them all. If you sign up for our Healing Anger newsletter, you will get a free Ebook that gives even more anger management techniques.

2) If you have a little money to spend, you might also want to
buy a CD or download some of our anger management audio programs, or buy one of our
anger management books.
3) Also, I think it would be very helpful if you read
these stories from other visitors and my responses to them.
Remember, you are a good person trying to do the right thing. You have what it takes to overcome your problems. Feel free to write more on this site if you want to.
My best to you,
Dr. DeFoore
