Sometimes I feel like hurting someone, when he or she mistreats me. Why is that so?

Response from Dr. DeFoore

Hello, and thanks for your question. A lot of people feel this way. It is because when someone puts pain into you, you want to get it out. And your way of getting it out is to put it back into them.

The only problem is that it doesn't work. When you hurt someone else, you're hurting yourself. This is true because you're a good person, and when you go against your natural goodness, you hurt yourself.

I suggest you try the journaling exercises on this page, and I think that will help you.

Then, if it works for you, try these imagery processes for emotional healing, and that should help you feel better about yourself and your past.

Believe in yourself, and never give up on you.

My very best to you,

Dr. DeFoore
