Years ago when I first started doing inner child work, I prayed and asked God to help me to write an affirmation script to help me. Then I went to the computer and wrote the following script. I used a small recorder to record it in my own voice. I combined my own affirmations with Bill DeFoore's affirmations for inner child and some other self-help books and recordings. I still struggle with the concept of loving myself and having self-esteem, but I've come a long way from where I was when I first started. My husband also recorded the following affirmations so that he can work on inner child affirmations with me.
“LOVE YOU ALWAYS”
I love you so very much. I love you all of the time. Nothing could ever stop me from loving you. I love you just the way that you are. I love you no matter how you look and no matter how you act. You are so important to me. I am so glad that you were born. I am so glad that you are here. I love to be with you. I love to hear you talk. I want to know how you feel about things and what you think about things. I want to know what your opinions are and how you really see yourself and the world and the people around you, through your own eyes and with your own feelings and thoughts. There is so much to you. I love to know who you really are. You are so important to me just because you are you. You can feel all of your feelings with me. I love you when you are feeling mad. I love you when you are feeling scared. I love you when you are feeling sad. I love you when you are feeling calm, happy and joyful. I love you when you are feeling all of your other feelings too. You are a child of God, and God will always love you.
“LOVE MYSELF ALWAYS”
I love myself. I love myself just the way that I am. I love myself no matter how I look and no matter how I act. I am important to me. I love being with myself. I know who I really am. I let myself feel all of my feelings. I love myself when I am feeling mad. I love myself when I am feeling scared. I love myself when I am feeling sad. I love myself when I am feeling calm, happy and joyful. I love myself when I am feeling all of my other feelings too.
