I'm 15 Years Old, In Foster Care And Out Of Control
by Mazza
It's not really a story, I suppose. But I am a 15 yr old girl in care and I have anger problems "apparently". The reason is, my social worker, fostermum and a psychiatrist all say I am out of control.
I have been in trouble with the police for getting in fights, skipping school and running away from home! I have been chucked out of school for getting in a fight with a girl who was taking the mick out of me, so I thumped her, had to be restrained and hit her in the face, giving her a black eye.
I get angry at anyone and anything, and it is tearing my life apart. I used to self-harm, but I was forced to stop.
Please help me as my anger is making me ill. Any advice?
Response from Dr. DeFooreHello Mazza, and thanks for telling your story here. I'm sure you have good reasons for being as angry as you are, and you need to figure out those reasons. That will help you, along with the other methods suggested on this
FAQ page. These are serious exercises, that will really help you if you use them.
You have to be your own champion, Mazza. Make up your mind that you're going to create a good life for yourself, and that you're going to start by healing your anger and learning to use your emotional energy in positive ways--ways that are good for you.
Believe in yourself, and the good person you are inside. You can be the person you choose to be.
My very best to you,
Dr. DeFoore
