"My Angry, Fatherless Teenage Son" Here is a great story from a worried mom. Read her story and find out what I recommended to help her with her son and her situation.

"Will He Ever Change?" Read this touching story from a woman who is stuck in the "battered person syndrome" and is having trouble getting out of the abusive relationship.

Support Our Mission Here is your opportunity to support this web site and all of the free information and services it offers. No obligation, just opportunity!

Your Story And Your Anger

You are the only one who really knows your story. If you don't know--really know--your story, you don't know yourself.

Do your "buttons get pushed" easily? Guess what! Your buttons are wired to your story. The things that "set you off" are events that "trigger" old fear and sorrow in your story. When you explore, write and tell your story, you actually heal and calm yourself down, "unwiring" your buttons and helping you manage your anger better.

So...the better you know your story, the better you know yourself, and the better you will be at understanding and managing your anger. What's the best way to know your story? Tell it!

Here are some of the benefits you will receive when you tell your story:

  • You will understand and like yourself better

  • You will "unwire" your "hot buttons" so that you don't get "triggered" and "set off" as easily

  • You will have better control over your anger

  • You will develop more compassion for others as you have more compassion for yourself

  • You will grow to accept and love yourself as you are

A lot of good folks just like you have gotten healing and help right here on this site, simply by telling their stories and helping and being helped. Read some of their stories right now!

Anybody Can Do This!

Do you want to tell your story, but you're worried that you can't write well enough? Are you shy or nervous about your writing, language abilities, spelling or grammer?

Not to worry! When you submit your story on this site, I will edit it for you before it's published! I've published stories by folks from all over the world, some who have very little English language--no problem! I've also published stories by 15 and 16 year olds, so you can definitely do this!

No pressure, just an opportunity for you to get some free help and healing. I like doing this, because I'm all about helping people, and I also get a new web page every time I publish a story. So it's a win-win situation!

Also, your story does not have to be long (although the more information you give me the more I can help you). Some of the stories are only a few sentences, as you can see in this story called, Just Can't Lose My Family Because Of My Anger.

A Two Part Journaling Process

Okay, here's the real powerhouse of your do-it-yourself anger management program! These are some great tools that, if you use them, they will help you tremendously in your efforts to heal your anger and manage all of your emotions better.

Here are the two parts:

  1. First, write from your anger, fear, frustration and irritation. Let it come out pure and raw, and don't try to "be nice" here. For this to work, the anger needs to really come out in your writing, so that you get some release in the process. Keep writing until you feel some relief and/or release. This is extremely important. Don't stop when you're still feeling bad. You may not get to feeling great, you're just looking for some relief from the bad feelings you started with. Don't try to be rational or logical, just let 'er rip with the anger.

One of things you will find is that this angry, frustrated, irritated part of your brain is not really all that smart. That is important--we really aren't that smart when we're consumed by anger, so you don't want it doing your thinking for you! Now, when you've gotten that relief and release you were looking for, along with some insight and understanding of yourself, you're ready for step two.

  2. The second part is positive journaling--that's right, now we're going to look at what is good, right and working in you, your situation, and the people around you. I call this Goodfinding, and it's simply a matter of activating another part of your brain that will make it a lot easier for you to manage your anger. One of the ways of doing this is to write 1) What you're grateful about from your past, 2) What you appreciate about your present situation, and 3) What you're looking forward to in your future. This might not be easy for you, but stick to it, and you can do it! Here's a whole web page devoted to this type of journaling process.

Have you ever bought some new tools...and just left them sitting there? Tools are useless...unless you use them! That applies here too. I'm giving you the tools, now it's up to you you use them!
