Why Is The Inner Child Still Around?

You probably remember that the idea of the inner child showed up in the 1970's, as a part of the recovery movement. If it was a fad, it would be gone by now.

It even survived the media and comedians making fun and ridiculing it. It pushes a lot of people's buttons, because it's not tough or macho--but it's real.

I'll tell you what I mean:

  • Your inner child is nothing more or less than an image, or symbol to represent something that is otherwise invisible--your emotions.
  • When you develop a relationship with your inner child, you are creating a connection with your emotions and your subconscious mind.
  • Your inner child carries all of the pain, fear and woundedness from your past, giving you access to those wounds so that you can heal them.
  • When you understand, nurture and care for your inner child, you are healing your own emotions and eliminating the primary cause of your anger.

There is literally no other way to get direct access to your emotions, with the power and effectiveness of visualizing your inner child. That's why it's still around, after all these years!

How Does It Cause Anger And What Do I Do About It?

The inner child doesn't actually cause anger, but a wounded child can be the strongest reason for your anger. Here's how it works:

  • You got hurt, abused, abandoned and/or neglected as a child--all of us did, in some shape or fashion.
  • And the pain and wounding did not stop as you grew up.
  • The image of your wounded inner child represents all of that pain and wounding, and gives you a way to relate to it in a healing manner.
  • There is a natural protective instinct in each of us as human beings.
  • Your natural internal protector got angrier and angrier, as the wounding continued. There's your anger!
  • The more you have been hurt, abused, abandoned and/or neglected, the more angry your internal protector is.

So you can see how the inner child is the reason for your anger. Your anger is nothing more or less than your own internal protector that is tired of all of the pain and suffering, and won't stand for it any more!

Keep reading to find out what to do about it!
