What Is Healthy Anger?
Most people think that all anger is bad. The fact is, however, that you'd be dead without it. Anger is simply an emotion that comes up when you're threatened and opposed.
Most of what you think of when somebody mentions anger is unhealthy anger outbursts, aggression, abuse and violence.
So, to answer the question...what is healthy anger?
- Healthy anger is strong emotion that fuels effective action.
- Healthy anger is good for you, and makes you feel strong.
- Anger is only healthy when it works hand in hand with intelligence and respect for others.
- Healthy anger shows up as strong motivation, enthusiasm and determination.
- Anger is healthy when it is in line with your spiritual values.
Examples of healthy anger are MADD--Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, and anybody who gets mad and gets busy doing the right thing to solve a problem. Anger is unhealthy when it takes over and causes you to do things you otherwise wouldn't do--healthy anger never does that.
I think you get the picture. Here is a whole page on healthy anger if you're interested.
How Does It Help With Your Anxiety?
That's easy...you can't be anxious and have healthy anger at the same time.
When you have healthy anger, you feel powerful, righteous and focused on your desired outcome.
Here are some more ways it helps:
- With healthy anger, you know what you're going to do and you're doing it. Anxiety is usually connected with confusion about what to do or whether you can do it.
- When you're anxious, you're unfocused...and when you have healthy anger you're very focused.
- Anxiety makes you feel weak and afraid, and healthy anger makes you feel strong and courageous.
If you want to put this into effect right now, just make up your mind that you're going to make whatever happens the best thing that ever happened to you. Then set about learning all you can about how to make that happen--don't let anything stop you!
